Biodiesel Kits:
There are two things that constitute a "Biodiesel Kit."

The first and most common is that of a kit used to filter and process waste vegetable oil.  This type of kit consists usually of a container to process and refine the waste vegetable oil in order to remove its impurities. The rest of the process involves thinning out the cleaned oil with lye and or other chemical compounds so that it does not clog your diesel engine injectors. With this type of kit you are effectively making biodiesel.

The second and lesser known Biodiesel Kit is one that consists of an oil tank, a heating system with thermal protection and some sort of interface with your diesel fuel injection system so that your car may run on pure vegetable oil.  The heater and insulation keeps the viscosity or "centistokes" at the proper levels so that the oil does not clog your injectors. These type of kits like the Greasel or my favorite, the frybrid,
allow you to run pure vegetable oil instead of having to go through the processing and filtration you would to make biodiesel fuel. I prefer it because you only have to filter the waste vegetable oil instead of cooking it and having to deal with dangerous chemicals. Plus you have to admit, its pretty amazing to think your car can run off of a near free in cost fuel source.  Some users of the frybrid kit have likened the experience of running pure vegetable oil to that of flying. Its that amazing of an experience.

The frybrid also has the distinct advantage of having its own computer
controlled system with aircraft grade pipes and interface to your diesel injectors.  It also will automatically switch over to oil once your car is warmed up and then switches to diesel when you go to to turn the engine off.  This effectively purges your injector system of any oil so that it won't solidify when it gets cold. I consider it the preferred and best of this type of kit for reliability and performance.
