Positive Energy Fuels State Conservation Efforts

By: Chris Goldman
Georgia's first non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of alternative fuel sources was announced this week. (PRWEB) January 25, 2005 -- The creation of the Positive Energy Foundation was announced Monday, marking an important milestone for energy conservation in Georgia. Positive Energy Foundation is the state’s first non-profit organization dedicated to the research and development of biodiesel fuel and other renewable resources. Positive Energy will also produce and distribute biodiesel to the general public, private corporations, local governments and civic groups for the purpose of environmental conservation and economic development. “Biodiesel is an alternative fuel source that burns clean and is produced from domestic, renewable resources,” said Kris Smith, Positive Energy Foundation founder and board president. “Various vegetable oils can be used to power diesel engines, even recycled frying oil from restaurants,” Smith added. Smith started the foundation as a way to pool the resources of various biodiesel proponents throughout the state. In addition, plans are in place to begin producing and distributing biodiesel fuel in Atlanta. “Increased use of biodiesel fuel will enable the state to improve air quality and environmental pollution, but it will also spur economic activity,” said Smith. “Oil-bearing crops like soybeans have a huge impact on the state’s economy, and an increase in the use of biodiesel fuel will mean greater demand for these products.” Positive Energy is looking for people throughout Georgia who are currently involved in or interested in the use of biodiesel fuels. For more information, contact Kris Smith at 678.884.9704 or visit the Web site at www.positivenergy.org. Positive Energy Foundation is dedicated to promoting research, development, production, distribution, and use of alternative and renewable fuel sources for the purpose of environmental conservation and economic development.
